1. Practice on an empty stomach – Yoga posture practice is best done before eating a meal; otherwise one’s food may be forced upwards, resulting in some discomfort. If you must eat before class, try a very light snack such as a piece of fruit no later than half an hour beforehand.
2. Wear comfortable clothes – Yoga is designed to move the body through its many ranges of motion, and sometimes in ways previously unknown to the practitioner. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes so that you can explore each pose to its fullest potential.
3. Go at your own pace – The practice of yoga is a personal path towards self-realization that is different for everyone. It is important to take things at your own pace without comparing yourself to others. By cultivating a non-competitive attitude when in class, you will see your own practice blossom!
